Dimes switching itself off

Postby PeteBroad » Sun Nov 13, 2011 9:22 am

Just recently Dimes is turning itself off after a few hours and needs to be restarted, any reason why this should be happening?

Thanks,

Pete

Got no answer, just confirming it's happening here too, starting Nov 12.
The only uncommon thing I see in the messages tab is a periodic complaint that KeepAlive cannot be sent to the server.

Yeah, I had to restart Dimes once again this morning on 12 out of the 13 machines I have running. Sadly most of them have stopped again and I don't really have the time to constantly restart them over and over.:(

Having looked at the stats over the last few days it looks like this is happening to everyone else as well. My machines are only lasting 3 to 8 hours before they bomb out and the dimes icon vanishes from the taskbar, I only have time to restart mine once a day and I'll get fed up of doing this soon .

I'm running 0.5.5.1 on all of my machines and Java version 6 update 7 build 1.6.0_07-b06.

It's happening on all my machines too. Win7-64, Dimes 5.51, various recent Java versions.

5.5.1 (and no desire for the newest version yet), xp pro sp3, java 1.6.0_26-b03. Nothing about this has changed for months other than Windows Updates, and this has been rock solid until Nov 12 when it joined the shut-down-every-few-hours club.

Looking through the stats my downturn started on the 6th November. Anonymous Planet.Lab was getting 1.1 million a day , he's now down to just over 100k a day!!

Switched to 5.5.3 beta and they're still closing after a few hours. Doesn't matter whether it's the agent or service mode.

O.K, when I got up this morning 3 out of the 13 machines were still running, I restarted 10 machines and six hours later 8 of those have stopped running again. I will now restart them all and see how long they last. I can only think the server is telling them to stop for some strange reason??

Are you all seeing this in your messages tab? I don't remember seeing it before this problem started, but then I hadn't looked at the messages tab for months either...

Exactly what's happening here. It's also doing the same with my remote machines that are both older versions of Dimes and Java. I have a mix of Dimes 5.0, 5.2, 5.5.1 and 5.5.3 and they're all doing it with the possible exception of the 5.0 machine with an old Java build (remote machine, so I can't tell for sure).
