Wrong IP address in Linux version

Postby isingbass » Wed May 17, 2006 10:39 pm

I installed the DIMES on SuSE Linux 10 and the install went fine. However, it constantly comes up with the 127.0.0.2 IP address, and I cannot find a way to force it to change. This is on a Dell laptop with 3 diffrerent network cards (internal, dock and wireless) and I am only using the dock NIC. I am able to communicate with everything else ok. Any ideas? This may be a cuase of the destination hot didn't reply error. Thanks!

I am having the same issue on my machine - it's just that I have one internal NIC and a virtual IP from my Hamachi VPN client, which is the one NetDimes has chosen to use. Thus, no communications possible (and it puts me in South Africe, which I most amusingly am not... ;] ).

Actually, I just figured it out (at least for Windows XP). Go to the Network Connections, Advanced, Advanced Settings - change the order in which connections are accessed.

Thank you! This took care of the problem I was having due to MS ActiveSync 4.x and Windows Mobile5.0 and posted about here.

There is an interface setting for DIMES under Agent/Properties/Settings but this didn't help in Windows. @isingbass, does it help under SuSE? Or must you change the interface binding order -- sorry but I'm rusty on linux networking so don't recall how.
