Use less Disk space

Postby FluffyChicken » Thu Jul 28, 2005 12:35 pm

I've just had a look at the size of my DIMES directories...

Well it is now at ~550MB

I't not even running 24/7 and from when I started this client about 2 months ago.

It all seems to be
C:\Program Files\DIMES\Agent\Classes\Base\History
folder, so could this be reduced/purged/max size set... Something done about it anyway.
Can't beleive you need to keep that much history.

Try turning off the debug mode option as that option will log everything.

After removing debug mode, you can safely delete everything in the outgoing folder in the DIMES tree. In fact, it should not pile up that way, so please do it and re-run and see if things are piling up again, so that we can look into it. Usually, the DIMES agent sends results everytime it reaches 250 KB, so it's hard to see how you got to 550 M.

It's not running in Debug mode though :?

Only time it ran in debug mode was when I first installed it and couldn't get the client to register (even though I racked up about 5 agents trying!)
It would never finish, I though debug maybe give more light to me.... But found out it was because DIMES servers where offline (maybe it should timeout if it cannot finish upon regitering a client)

Anyways, I turned it off after thet.

I'll enable then disable debuging again incase to see if that helps.

Ok I forgot to check the prefrences.xml before but
Turning on debug <debug>true</debug>
Turning off debug <debug>false</debug>

So the prefrences are taking it.

Well see if that works this time.
