A suggestion for a new way to measure

I've seen websites that do a version of this... (like Aimfight)....

but what if you could connect DIMES to an instant messenger service, and trace out all the connections through that?

If you did something like.... trace it it to... 100th degree.... you could get potentially millions of measurements right there within just a few minutes.

That might be something to consider, but at first glance I see a few problems:

1. Privacy - If we do that it means that we have some information about a person and his/her friends.
2. Load - I'm not sure our servers can handle this load (millions of measurements within minutes).

But I'll mention it during our next team meeting.

I don't think it could work at all times.

I am certain that with AOL Instant Messenger, you must be directly connected to them (which needs their acceptance) in order to obtain their IP address, there is a warning for it before connecting.
